The most open feeling and unfinished shrine in Japan!
Hokoku Jinja (豊国神社) is the biggest building in Miyajima. There is a space of 857 tatami mats and it is called "Senjō kaku (千畳閣)". Toyotomi Hideyoshi ordered the construction, but since it died before completion, it remains unfinished. * It is designated as an important cultural property of the country.
This staircase is located near 'Itsukushima Jinja Shrine (厳島神社)'.
we will glad you when refered in sight-seeing.
When you go up this staircase, you will pass through a place with a nice view called "Tou no Oka (塔の岡)".
This Ochaya (お茶屋 / teahouse) is located in the "Tou no Oka (塔の岡)".
The pine on the road is called "Ryuzen no Matsu (龍髯の松)".
Because it resembles a dragon's beard, this name was attached.
When you climb up the stairs you will arrive in front of "Houkoku Jinja (豊国神社)".
There is a "Goju-no-to (五重塔 / five-story pagoda)" opposite Shrine. The height is 27.6 m.
Because it is incomplete, there is no wall. So, the wind passes through.
In front of the shrine is a tree of cycad (left).
These are few part of many 'Houkoku Jinja Shrine' photos.
In order to get inside, you need to pay the fee.
Pay 100 yen and take off your shoes (bring it in).
Tickets.
It is a space with a very open feeling.
On the wall there are plenty of "board paintings (板絵)" decorated.
This is an ema (絵馬).
In the autumn, the ginkgo tree spreading in front of you will color and it will be a beautiful landscape !!
When you come out in the corridor, you can see 'Itsukushima Jinja (厳島神社)'.
A corridor that continues to surround the building.
You too, Let's sit here and have a calm time!
Let's look at the beautiful sea.
Maybe... you will have a good time.
The underfloor is made as wide as people can pass through.
If the weather is nice, it is definitely a place to be refreshed!
