Kawagoe "Kitain Temple (喜多院)" is a temple deeply related to the Tokugawa family, and most of the buildings are designated important cultural assets. From people in the area it is called "Kawagoe Daishi (川越大師)" and is loved.

San-mon Gate (山門 / Every Temple's gate).

Shiroyama Jinja Shrine (白山神社).

This is another entrance.

"Goshikimaku (Colorful curtain)" of the "Hondo (本堂 / main hall)" is vivid.

On the backside of this souvenir shop is "Gohyaku Rakan (五百羅漢)".

Gohyaku Rakan (五百羅漢) = Buddha's 500 disciples on sliding partitions.

On the right side of the precincts (境内) there is a Temizuya (手水舎 / Hand-wash Place).

This is "Temizuya (手水舎)". Be sure to wash your hands before entering the god area.

Manner of Temizuya (手水舎)

* In this process, carried out with one dipper-full of water!!

1. Put water in "Ladle" which is placed in the Temizuya.
2. Holding Ladle in your right hand, wash your left hand.
3. next, wash your right hand.
4. Put water in the left hand and move to mouth, wash the mouth.
5. Hold the Ladle vertically so remaining water runs down and clean the handle.

This is a general usage Manner.

This main hall is called "Jie do (慈恵堂)".

Kitain Temple (喜多院) manner of pray

1. Let's put a coin in the saisen box.
2. bow your head and let's say a deep greeting.
3. Match your hands at the chest height, pray to the god.
4. Finally, let's bow again and say a deep greeting once.

The hall in a high place is "Jigen do (慈眼堂)".

There is a Jizo bosatsu (地蔵菩薩) on the left side of the 'Jie do (慈恵堂)'.

This Jizo is said to take away "hardship".

On the right side of the 'Jie do (慈恵堂)' is "Daikokudo (大黒堂)".

Tahōto (多宝塔 / Two-storied pagoda).

Several intermission spaces are available in the Temple precinct (境内).

This is a Paid area.
