Let's enjoy lush nature and historic sites!
The "Hyakunin-bansho (百人番所) area" that is over 50 meters in length is surrounded by huge stone walls and an atmosphere like a fortress.
There is an explanation panel on the opposite side of "Hyakunin-bansho (百人番所)".
This is the panel where the explanation of the gate and stone wall was written.
These are few part of many 'Kokyo Higashi Gyoen (皇居東御苑)' photos.
It is a very wide checkpoint.
Let's go through this Big Ishigaki (stone wall), go up the slope and go to "Honmaru area"!
This big stone wall is a trace of Nakamonomon Gate (中之門).
Slope of the Ōbansho Guardhouse (大番所) area.
Only those who got permission at the checkpoint can go up this slope. *Long ago
A photo of the samurai is posted on this panel!
Ōbansho (大番所) Guardhouse.
It seems that the person of the organization of the Edo shogunate was checking this "Ōbansho (大番所)".
Trace of the last gate leading to "Edojo Castle Honmaru Goten (江戸城 本丸御殿)".
Evidence of having encountered a "big fire"...
The Honmaru (本丸) area is maintained as a vast "lawn open space".
Fujimi-yagura (富士見櫓 / Mt.Fuji view Keep).
The Yagura (櫓) is about the warehouse where weapons were put.
A very wide walking path.
Natural forest spreads to the west side. *photo is a tea plantation.
Natural forest on the west side.
This is a warehouse where furniture etc was stored in emergency.
Bamboo forest moved from the Imperial Palace in 1996.
"Edojo Castle Tenshudai (江戸城 本丸天守跡地)" seen from the central part of the Honmaru lawn area. *Remains of the main tower
